Case Study:

Brandy Bones Tattoo

Overview

Brandy Bones is a talented tattoo artist based in Vancouver, BC, specializing in black and gray realism and neo-traditional color work. She needed a portfolio and booking site that reflected the quality of her art and connected her with potential clients. Her old WordPress site was outdated, difficult to navigate, and not mobile-friendly—ultimately underselling her talent.

This project was part client work, part personal exploration. As a friend of Brandy’s, I offered her a deal and used this as an opportunity to learn Framer and Spline for the first time—expanding my skillset while aiming to create a site that felt elevated, current, and totally her.

Challenge & Approach

Brandy’s old WordPress site was outdated, hard to navigate, and not mobile-friendly, undermining her talent as a tattoo artist. She needed a clean, modern site that reflected her black & gray realism and neo-traditional style, and helped clients book easily.

I started with competitor research (Vancouver tattoo studios + Awwwards inspiration) to define structure and tone, while conducting a full SEO audit to improve her local search visibility. Visually, I expanded on her existing brand—extracting a moon mark from her logo, using her Wasabi typeface for headings, and building a dark, bold aesthetic that matched her work.

The site is a responsive, one-page Framer build with smooth scroll navigation to sections like About, Work, Reviews, FAQ, and Booking. I designed a comprehensive booking form and integrated it directly with her email. I also created a 3D skull animation in Spline—both playful and on-brand—to make the experience feel unique and interactive.
